Thinking of buying an eMac

Postby Rizzo » Thu May 26, 2005 5:59 pm

I would use it for web-browsing and home-movie editing. I don't know much about computers - but I have been swayed by the I-life software suite that comes with the computer. Can anyone advise as to the functionality of this type of computer? Oh and another reason Pro eMac is the space factor - or lack there of. Apples are all in one systems (we have thought about a laptop but can't justify the price for the processing power?)
Ciao,

Vincenzo.

Macs are good, you will be happy. Mind you, at $1300 you can get a small footprint PC and LCD monitor.

What about printers etc?

cheers, Paul

thing is you can't compare windows base computer to MAC based computer. the G5 or G4 is much more faster than Pentiam4 or AMD 55FX in one area and not in other.
MAC OSX is much much stable system than MS windows (any version exsept DOS)

I use Windows to make movies and other things but when i go to make the DVD file it takes about 2-4 Hours to convert and save.
but i got my friends power PC G4 its like a dream.
so if you are looking for a computer with good performance for movie, music, graphic creation then i would HIGHLY recomend getting a MAC.

Thanks for the input guys,
And sorry for the late reply - I don't have a PC or Internet connection at home yet, so I am only able to check in from time to time.

If I am to go the PC option, can you hazard a guess as to the options and expense of software that compares to the Apple package? Or is it just not apples and apples (please excuse the pun and the fact that I am now discussing software instead of hardware).
I do read the greenguide every week and check out whats available hardware-wise, And I think if I were to go for the PC option I would more than likely follow the bleeding edges' quaterly guide. I'm also kind of gun shy when it comes to putting together a PC as I got burnt 12 years back (with an inferior CPU that the retailer had lied about and I was too green to physically check it.) the memory is still painful.
Ciao,

Vincenzo.
