HP iPAQ H6300 - Overclocking Query

Postby BlueGumTech » Tue Jun 19, 2007 10:27 pm

Is there anyway of over-clocking the CPU on a iPAQ H6300 series. I have a H6365 and it has trouble playing videos.
Any suggestions are much appreciated.

Hi phillip well come to bleeding edge

i don't think you can overclock a CPU on PDA since their is no way of getting in to the BIOS, or if they do have BIOS i don;t think you can do that.
i don't have a PDA my self but so i can't comment if it can be dune.
but i don;t think its a good idea even if you can overclock a CPU on PDA, overclocking involves adding more voltage to the CPU or increasing the frequency witch makes CPU get more Hotter, so it could end in over heat. and adding more power might shorten the life of the CPU....

Hi GTO-Pontiac,
Thanks for the welcome and prompt reply.

I may need to explorer a bit more and find a video file type that is iPAQ friendly.

You can under and overclock ARM and XScale CPUs - it's all done with via commonly available software. Yes, certainly, there will be decreased battery life and instability with overclocking.

If you are having some speed problems with video, ensure that the media I/O is as fast as possible. Internal Memory > Storage > Storage Card. Of course Internal Memory is a precious commodity. But Storage Cards vary in I/O speed. Try and get a faster one.

The player also plays a part. Some players are sluggish, others are faster.
