This article in Slate Magazine features a program called Persai (in beta form) which can be used as an RSS filter. Paul Boutin seems generally enthusiastic. Some others I’ve read less so. Any RSS devotees tried it?

Findory WAS a similar type of thing...
Some day, online newspapers will focus on your interests, building you your own unique, customized front page of news. Some day, information overload will be tamed.
Cheers, Stephen
