Passwords on Mobile Phone voice mail

Postby dowlingjlm » Wed Jul 15, 2009 10:39 pm

Dear Contributors

Given the recent press in the UK of a certain newspaper organisation allegedly being involved with taping into the mobile phone voicemail of alleged targeted parties, does any one know if there is a need to put password onto voicemail?

Hacking the telecommunications network in this country is highly illegal, that I know. I assume (but can't say for a fact) that voicemail is part of that network covered by the legislation, so I do not think there is a problem from the non-criminal element such as newspapers. However if your voicemails are especially confidential, and you have a specific reason for thinking you are a target, then you should not be using it for that.

If you're just an ordinary Joe like the rest of us then you should have nothing to be concerned about.
