The story briefly goes like this: Bought an LG mobile phone. It has the camera which is standard these days. Didn't expect to use it much as I have a nifty digital one but of the few pics I've taken I wanted to upload 2. No can do say LG because we don't make a USB for it. As the phone doesn't have Bluetooth the pics will always remain in the phone.

Possibly I should have asked more questions when buying but who would have thought a company would sell a phone with a camera but not provide a facilty to upload the pics. Not me.

It's a KP202 which I think is exclusive to Vodafone.

I'm resigned to not being able to upload them. I've spoken to the retailer, manufacturer, Dick Smith and Strathfield and they all say it can't be done. I'll take them again with a real  camera at the weekend. I just thought it was strange that you would build a camera into a phone without the ability to extract the photos.
Thanks to you both for your interest.

Can you send the pictures as multimedia messages to someone else's mobile that can then download pictures? I presume the main reason the manufacturer provides this function is to send pictures to friend's mobiles.

Also, may be possible to send as email attachment to your PC.

Looking at the spec's it is quite limited.

One thing it does have is EMAIL and depending on the way that it implements the email sytem and/or your 'telco's charges/plan you are on you might be able to find a way to e-mail the photos you take with the phone to a normal email account on your PC and go from there.

It looks like this phone is indeed asking for some serious hacking to be performed on it as this thing called 'vendor lock-in' seems not to be the case with this phone it is not so much a telco locked up phone more so that the phone itself is just locked.
Cheers, Stephen

From the site Stephen has given above there is a comment from one of the "User Opinions". It looks like sending by MMS is the only way to go.

It's a very unsuccessful telephone - no stable conversation and no support. You can't get the photos by any way except by MMS. I'v wrote a leter to LG but get no answer.

As the phone only operates on GRPS the transfer of photos won't be all that fast.

Regards

Thankyou RDee and Stephen.

The good people at Vodaphone did draw my attention to the email option but they were a little wide of the mark - no can do. I don't think it's MMS enabled but I'll re- check that.

You are right Stephen it is limited function. I bought it as an interim measure while Telstra gets NextG sorted. . I still think it's odd to market a phone - limited function or not - with a camera option but provide no upload facility. I suppose that is the way of things in this day and age. I will get the trusty digital out at the weekend and re-take the shots.

Thankyou for all the trouble you guys have gone to.
