Top post GTO-P. My system to be will look a lot like your high-end PC.
I upped system memory to 2GB (2×1GB), while going for a lesser video card. NVidia 6600GT (PCIe of course).
My motherboard is the Asus A8N-SLI premium which is probably $100 more than your spec, but leaves the door open to a SLI setup in the future.
I like the idea of the fast Raptor for managing data, and even contemplated (but didn't go with) having twin WD 10K Raptors in RAID 0, as well as a WD SATAII 16MB cache 250GB HDD for serious storage.
I didn't in the end, but the WD SATAII drive only cost about $20 more if your board can handle it.
Processor chosen was the AMD X2 3800+ which saved a little money for me. Other system specs were similar.

Nice thread, keep it up.

Epi.

For most mortals, NVidia 6600GT is not "lesser video card". 6600GT would be considered middle of the range. I was hoping to get such card, but I went for something "less" than 6600GT, mainly because I couldn't afford it, so I am at the low end. :(

But, I agreed with gto-pontiac. WOW!
