The Bleeding Edge infectious pronoun problem
The fact that [ahem] "we" tend to refer to ourselves in the first person plural has been variously described as "pompous", "old-fashioned" and just downright "irritating". It's therefore quite hilarious to discover that Chris Curnow, who's celebrating the first birthday of his blog, has got so used to our style that he's been tending to fall naturally into using "we" as well. But he's just a bit ambivalent:
I guess you notice we can't make up our mind whether we are "we" or "I". I've been reading Bleeding Edge too much and I just fall into the habit. I really like "we" but it feels like I am just stealing Bleeding Edge's style.
Wouldn't bother us a bit. In fact, we'd be flattered. More than that, we'd like to see huge numbers of blogs using the same style, if only because it would ruin Tony Goodson's day. Almost as much as having to listen to "over-researched" podcasts.

Mark Twain said, "Three kinds of people use 'we' to refer to themselves. Royalty, newspaper editors and people with tape worms."

I guess one of reasons I like to use "we" is to separate me the person from me the author. I like the idea that Bleeding Edge has taken on a personality separate from cw. I'd like chriscurnow.com to have a separate identity to me.
I guess that now we are 1 year old, we will have to decide one way or another and stick to it.

If that's the only thing that worries one, one should get a life
