Let's put Andrew Bolt on the couch

We're starting to wonder why the ABC bothers paying Barrie Cassidy to "run" the Sunday morning Insiders panel, when it's clear that the man in charge is the increasingly smug Andrew Bolt, who, as we learn in this upchucking display of false modesty, doubts he'd have "the courage and tenacity to continue searching for the truth", without "the generous support and encouragement" of friends and strangers.

Obviously they include his fellow Insider panel members, because Bolt is the focus of everyone's attention, including Cassidy's. If Malcolm Farr, or each week's token woman commentator makes a point, they don't make it to Cassidy, they make it to Bolt.

And Bolt's body language indicates he's quite aware that the focus is on him - possibly because he's now taken to writing love notes to the most decent, caring, compassionate, gentle and infallible Prime Minister in Australia's history. He leans back in the chair, makes languid gestures, and interrupts as he pleases. It's rare for anyone to get to complete a sentence without Bolt dismissing it, or changing the subject.

We're beginning to think that it's the seating arrangements. Farr and the women seem to be stuck on the couch, whereas Bolt and Cassidy get the chairs. We'd like to see Bolt stuck on the couch. Supine. Preferably with a psychiatrist taking notes.

As someone who doesnt read nor agree with Bolt, I actually enjoy his presence. He is an excellent thermometer - arguably dictator - of orthodox opinion and its fascinating to understand the deplorable ideology that has become widespread public opinion. Know thy enemy.

Surely you mean a TEAM of psychiatrists and and MRI to ascertain what goes on in the frontal lobe ( if anything). And to think that the editor of your paper apparently attempted to pinch him. UGH!!!

Read a letter the other day from some poor misguided soul about "poor Andrew" getting such a hard time from the "lefties" on the panel!

Bolt is such a supercilious condescending twerp that its a surprise that actually seeing and hearing him doesn't alienate him from some of the yokels who see him as a guiding light. But then again, those yokels either don't watch the ABC or are trying to destroy it . . .

Bolt is a fascinating twice-weekly read, I recommend everyone do so religiously. The trick is to learn to ignore the, I suspect quite deliberate, emotive language he uses liberally. Once you ignore the emotive language, you will find that the actual structure of his argument is quite hollow and easily dismissed.

Often Bolt will attack a member of the left personally rather than their policies – at which point he destroys his own argument.

OR

Often that right wing idiot Bolt will attack a member of the indignant left rather than their apparent policy (which is so flimsy it may well have been drafted, if you can call it that, on the back of a napkin at an arty pub) – at which point the village clown destroys his own argument.

Wow, CW you sure put your finger on what's wrong with that program. I just went with my immediate emotional and ethical response to that idiot and stopped watching the program all together...simple.

Please put my name in. I am not ANONY or any other sort of MOUSE.

Thank ? I am not the only one!!!

I have written to Mr Cassidy before regarding his 2 apologists for the Liberal Party, Messrs Bolt & Ackermann. (Heill!?) They are to the far right of Atilla the Hun.

I dont mind an opposing argument, even if it is misguided. Even if it can point out where I am misguided.

My hope for Barrys program is that they will provide an intelligent, well thought out commentary and analysis, not backing any political bent or ideology, but examining the facts in a clear and unbiased manner.

These buggers, week after week, provide their views through blue coloured glasses.

Why?, why/, Barry do you allow them to do it?

Give me a clear and unbiased analysis of Labor and I will applaud, rub their noses in the dirt without bias and I will cheer, give me the rubbish from these 2 wankers each week and eventually I will turn off.

Maybe thats what they want?

Steven

Andrew Bolt sure brings us all out! I am embarrassed that his roots are from the same country as mine.

I tend to turn the radio off nowadays when Barry Cassidy is on the 3LO morning show with John Faine he's always gushing on like a schoolgirl. With Howard so available to the media, one extra clone is too much. I'm never likely to see or read about Andrew Bolt. I would rather not watch news or current affairs as I am iterested in what's going on in the world. The Sun is only good for it's racing form guide ( as is the age ) and is very good for mulch.

Come on guys can't you see the connection !!

Bolt & Ackermann are on Howards payroll but they are payed indirectly through a swiss bank account.

I wish those two political spokesmen(not reporters) would just dissappear. As reporters they are absolutely useless and the information they provide is of little value except for people with the IQ of a 12 year old which represents most of the Herald Sun readers.

Ah Bolt, keeping left-wing scum in their place, what a champ.

I'm sure Bolt is highly intelligent, however it's a shame he makes a living by spouting the drivel that he produces through the Herald Sun and talk back panels. I can't help but laugh when I occasionally read his column - either he's directing his words at the sycophantic, gullible members of society who don't know any better, or he is somehow under the impression through his arrogance that most people take his manipulative script seriously. Mates of mine agree that the guy is a joke.
